Sharing the news
Once you are sure you are pregnant, one of the first things you'll want to do is tell someone about it.
Partner
You will want to share the great news with your partner and start planning your new family together
Doctor
You should go to your doctor as soon as you can to discuss the next nine months. In some cases you could be referred straight to a midwife.
Midwife
After you've seen your doctor, you'll be referred to a midwife who can give you advice and support throughout your pregnancy, during labour and after your baby is born.
Friends and family
We assume you'll have told your partner first, and your parents and close friends not long after. Some women like to keep from telling too many people until the end of the first three months.
Employer
You should tell your employer before you attend your first antenatal clinic, which will probably be when you're about three months pregnant. This is so you can be paid during antenatal visits. You also need to keep them informed of when you intend to leave and begin work again, to safeguard your full maternity rights.
